Funny Haitian Mom Quotes and Sayings

I detect it so crazy that I can connect with people beyond the globe through moments that we both experiences in our own individual worlds. For instance, in the earth of blackness twitter, we all basically grew upward with the same things in our houses like that one loving cup blue cup we drink fruit punch in. Or even the things our parents say. Freaky. I know many cultures have different meme accounts on social media showcasing these shared experiences — Well Haitians accept that too. These memes make it seem similar all Haitian parents employ the same parenting guidebook to raise their children.

Hither are some common things Haitian parents say:

"Eske'm samble zanmi'w?" Practice I look like your friend?

  • To pigment the pic for you lot, this is said by a female parent or father who feels like their child is not talking to them in the right tone or mental attitude. So for instance, I might say to my mom "what the heck! That is whack" and she would respond as so. She is giving me a chance to recapitulate my statement more respectfully because I cannot talk to her the fashion I talk to my friends.

"Se konsa wap soti… epi tale ou pral ke hek ke hek tout kay la" Oh that is how you're leaving, … soon y'all volition come back and cough in the whole house.

  • My dad LOOOOVVVEEEDDD to say this to me. What he never understood and still doesn't understand is that dazzler hurts. You accept to make sacrifices for a skillful popular out. I would wear my black flats to school in the winter and I would go far trouble for not wearing my boots. Or I would go in trouble for not zipping my coat upwardly all the style by my eyebrows. Did I become ill? Yes, but I wasn't because I exposed my cervix. It was because Savannah wanted to cough and non cover her mouth.

"Fout demaske ou la avan mwen fout ou yon kalot" Move from my confront before I slap yous.

  • I am an abrasive person. I alive to annoy my mother by talking her ear off or getting up in her personal space. I just think it's funny. Then she will jokingly threaten me to move away from her. She never really hit me.

"You mete sa toujou? embien map voyel Ayiti" Have y'all worn this? Okay, I am sending information technology to Haiti.

  • If you haven't worn something in a while, you better believe my mother is packing it up in a box and sending information technology to my little cousins in Haiti. Sometimes my mom has sent things I was still actively wearing. She just loves to go shopping in my closet for people in Republic of haiti.

"Whoosh timoun yo ap fem mouri avan lem" The kids will make me die before my time.

  • Past 'make me dice' they usually mean that we are abrasive them or existence difficult. Kids can exist stressful, I will admit that much.

"Mwen pa gen kob" I don't take any money.

  • I guess my begetter doesn't believe in holding cash in his wallet or something considering EVERY TIME I asked him for cash to become see a movie or eat with my friends he never has money. LIES. But whatsoever. At that point, but go to another parent.

"Lakay, Lekol, Legiz" House, Schoolhouse, and Church building.

  • If you are Haitian all yous demand are the three Fifty's. Your house, your school, and your church. Nothing more, zippo less.

"M'bliye femen dife a. Ou ka femen'fifty pou mwen? Avan sa, pase mop la nan kwisin man, Epi lave asyet yo…" I forgot to plough the burn down (stove) off tin you turn it off? Also, tin you mop the kitchen and wash the dishes in the sink?

  • This is every Haitian mom on the run. My mom will go out the house on a mission and think with some chores left for me to do. UGH! I feel like Haitian mothers do this on purpose.

Haitian parents are only too similar. While I writing these, I was talking to my mother about some of these commonly said statements and she couldn't help but laugh considering she knows she says this to my brothers and me all the time. I swear at that place is some hush-hush handbook they all utilize. I wonder if whatsoever other cultures say like things or what are some of their common phrases.

Well, that is all for this mail service. Zanmi Orevwa!
